Natalie Piper Fine & Digital Arts Bursary
The County Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Natalie Piper Fine & Digital Arts Bursary. This is an annual award of $2,000 to support a resident in Prince Edward County (aged 18-30) pursuing post-secondary education or enhancement study in the broad Fine & Digital Arts sector.
This includes but is not limited to:
Traditional Fine Arts: Painting, drawing, illustration, print-making, sculpture, mixed media, collage, installation, etc.
Modern Fine Arts: photography, film, studio pottery and glass, book-binding, and poetry.
Performing Fine Arts: theatre, music and dance.
Digital Arts: graphic design, illustration, video, and digital art.
Jim Turner, who has helped to establish the bursary alongside Laurie Gruer, Bill Stearman, Natalie's sister Erin Racioppa, and Natalie’s husband, Nigel Piper, spoke about their hopes for the award and how it will honour Natalie’s creative legacy.
Born with a congenital heart condition that required major surgeries throughout her life, Natalie refused to let her illness limit her. Natalie was an active part of the local creative community, by creating logos, designs, and layouts for local organizations and businesses such as the Picton Library, Jazzfest, Art in the County, the Chamber Music Festival, the Picton Gazette, and many more.
